Graduates of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, have continued to express concern over delays in their mobilisation for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), attributing the challenge to issues surrounding Senate list uploads and unresolved administrative bottlenecks within the institution.

Some affected graduates, who said they have been unable to proceed with mobilisation since 2024, described the situation as frustrating and emotionally draining, especially as many of their counterparts from other institutions have already commenced national service.

One of the affected graduates, Lebi Anuoluwapo, alleged that several students encountered the message, “JAMB Registration Number Does Not Exist,” during the NYSC registration process. According to him, verification attempts at the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) suggested that the issue did not originate from JAMB’s database.

He claimed the challenge may be linked to errors in the institution’s internal data processing and alleged poor communication from the Student Affairs Division, noting that affected students had struggled to get timely responses to their enquiries.

The graduate, however, acknowledged the intervention of the Rector of the institution, Mr. Kehinde Alabi, describing his response as responsible and reassuring. He said the Rector and members of the management team had engaged stakeholders and assured students that efforts were ongoing to resolve the issue.

Responding to the allegations, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Mr. Tope Abiola, stated that the problem was largely caused by incorrect data supplied by some students, which resulted in unrecognized JAMB registration numbers during the mobilisation process.

According to him, several students of the institution have already been successfully mobilised and are currently preparing to serve or have commenced their NYSC programme.

He further disclosed that the Rector and other administrative officers, in collaboration with officials of JAMB, are presently in Abuja working towards resolving the outstanding issues affecting some graduates.

Speaking on whether the institution could guarantee mobilisation for all affected students, the Dean stated that such assurance could not be given because, according to him, the fault did not originate from the institution.

He, however, maintained that measurable progress was being made and expressed optimism that the situation would be resolved through ongoing engagements between the institution and relevant authorities.

The development has continued to generate anxiety among affected graduates, many of whom say the delay has subjected them to emotional and financial difficulties while awaiting mobilisation into the NYSC scheme.
