Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been formally decorated as the Patron of the Lagos State Scout Council at a ceremony held at Lagos House, Marina.
Speaking after the decoration, Sanwo-Olu praised the Scout Association of Nigeria for its longstanding contribution to youth development, noting that the organisation has spent more than a century building character, discipline and leadership qualities among young people.
“The Scout Association of Nigeria has spent over a century building character, discipline, and leadership values in our youth,” the governor said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting youth-focused programmes through the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, stressing the importance of initiatives that promote social inclusion and empower young people.
“Through the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, our administration remains fully committed to supporting platforms that focus on social inclusion and real empowerment for young children,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
The governor thanked the State Scout Commissioner, Olohuntoyin Adebesin, and members of the council for the honour, pledging continued collaboration to advance youth development across the state.
“We will continue to work together to build a greater future for our youth,” he added.
