The Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Hon. Lekan Fatodu, has revealed that Lagos State has commenced strategic preparations for the hosting of the inaugural National Intermediate Games scheduled for 2026.

Fatodu made the disclosure on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, during a gathering of sports stakeholders, professionals, and development partners focused on strengthening opportunities within the state’s sports ecosystem.

Among the dignitaries present at the event was the Director of ARM Foundation, Dr. Muyibat Kehinde Ajala, alongside other stakeholders committed to sports development and youth empowerment.

According to Fatodu, the meeting brought together “brilliant minds and tested hands” who have continued to contribute to the growth of sports in Lagos and have been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the successful hosting of the maiden National Intermediate Games.

He described the initiative as part of the ongoing “Lagos Sports Rebirth” agenda aimed at expanding opportunities for athletes, enhancing sports infrastructure, and positioning Lagos as a leading hub for sports development in Nigeria.

“Lagos Sports Rebirth! Gathering of some brilliant minds and tested hands who are contributing to expanding opportunities in the sports ecosystem in Lagos, and saddled with the noble responsibility of hosting the Inaugural National Intermediate Games in Lagos in 2026,” Fatodu said.
