The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, securing a second term in office after a commanding victory across the state’s 16 local government areas.
The Returning Officer for the election, Adenike Oladiji, announced the result in the early hours of Sunday at INEC’s State Collation Centre in Ado-Ekiti, declaring that Oyebanji had satisfied the constitutional requirements and was duly re-elected.

According to the final results, Oyebanji polled 319,224 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Olumayokun Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 40,533 votes, while Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) garnered 12,872 votes.
The APC candidate recorded victories in all 16 local government areas, including Efon Local Government, the home council of the PDP candidate. In Efon, Oyebanji polled 8,742 votes against Oluyede’s 2,051 votes.
The election, conducted on Saturday, was contested by candidates from 12 political parties, with 384,940 voters accredited from the state’s registered voter population.
The result cements Oyebanji’s political dominance in Ekiti and extends APC’s hold on power in the state for another four-year term.
