The Lagos State Government has received Dazzle Football Club of Lagos following the team’s impressive performance at the prestigious Dana Cup in Denmark, where it clinched gold and silver medals in the U-12 and U-14 categories respectively.
The team was received by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, alongside the Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Hon. Lekan Fatodu, at the Commission’s office in Teslim Balogun Stadium.
In addition to the team’s medal-winning performances, Toheeb Ojerinde of the U-14 squad emerged as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
Congratulating the players and technical crew, Fatodu commended the team for its outstanding performance on the international stage, stressing that its achievement had brought pride to Lagos State and Nigeria.
Welcoming the young champions, the Director-General said the recognition accorded the team reflected the commitment of the government to celebrating excellence and creating an environment where talent could thrive.
According to him, the team’s achievement demonstrated how individual excellence could create a wider impact in a state and country with a huge population.
“The ecosystem, actually championed by the President, is such that when you do well, a grateful state and nation receive you. This is the manifestation of that word this morning.
“Without statistical information, your group is just a drop in the ocean when we talk of over 22 million population in Lagos and 200 million in Nigeria. Imagine when the drop creates a significant ripple. That is what you have done, and that ripple is what is going to inspire other people.”
Fatodu further reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to nurturing sporting talents, empowering young people to pursue their dreams and creating pathways for the emergence of future champions.
The feat by Dazzle FC at the Dana Cup adds to the growing recognition of Lagos as a hub for grassroots sports development and youth talent discovery.
