Tinubu Support Group Rejects Alliance with Soludo, APGA, Backs APC ‘Top-to-Bottom’ in 2027

The Tinubu Support Group (TSG) in the South-East has rejected any political alliance between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, declaring that its members will support candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across all elective positions in the 2027 general elections.

The group made its position known during a rally held in Awka, Anambra State, over the weekend.

The supporters said they would vote for Tinubu and other APC candidates rather than support any arrangement in which the President receives their backing for the presidency while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) controls other elective positions in the state.

The development comes despite Soludo’s inclusion in the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) as the state coordinator for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

The rally was organised by Sir Paul Chukwuma, an APC chieftain and Deputy Coordinator of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council in the South-East.

Addressing supporters, Chukwuma said the group would not support any political arrangement with Soludo or APGA that could undermine the APC’s prospects in other elections.

He urged members to remain loyal to the party and work towards securing victories for APC candidates at the presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives and state House of Assembly levels.

“What I want to tell you people is that in the forthcoming election, it is APC from top to bottom. ‘Progressives are working together’ is a deceptive slogan APGA is using to deceive Mr President. Next year, we will vote for only our party and that is the charge.”

Chukwuma’s position reflected the group’s opposition to an arrangement that separates support for the presidential candidate from support for candidates contesting other positions.

He urged APC members across the South-East to maintain their party loyalty and resist political arrangements that could influence their voting pattern in the 2027 elections.

The rally attracted supporters from the five South-East states of Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu and Abia, who were mobilised to demonstrate support for Tinubu’s re-election bid and the APC’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the region.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, was among the prominent APC leaders who addressed the gathering.

Kalu expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure substantial support across the South-East, citing what he described as the President’s actions and policies in the region.

“Tinubu has no opposition in the forthcoming presidential election. What he has done for the South-East would give him massive votes in the five South-East states.”

He also rejected the “progressives working together” arrangement, urging APC members to consolidate their support for the party in the 2027 elections.

“I maintain that the mantra of progressives working together is deceptive. I’m calling on APC members to stamp their authority in 2027 in making sure Mr President sweeps the zone.”

Uche Ekwunife, the APC senatorial candidate for Anambra Central, also attended the rally alongside other party stakeholders.

Speakers at the event called on party members to support Tinubu and all APC candidates contesting legislative and other elective positions.

They further urged supporters to commence grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing the need for a coordinated electoral strategy to strengthen the party’s position in the South-East.
