2027 Elections: Aiyedatiwa Backs Door-to-Door Campaign to Mobilise Ondo Voters for Tinubu

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has backed a door-to-door mobilisation campaign for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, saying direct engagement with voters could help address voter apathy.

Aiyedatiwa spoke on Tuesday when members of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, led by Chief Kestin Pondi, visited him at his office.

The visit followed the inauguration of the movement and the unveiling of 26 campaign vehicles intended to support grassroots mobilisation across Ondo State’s 26 constituencies.

The governor commended the group for extending its activities beyond Delta State, where its convener, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, is based.

He said direct engagement with residents could help familiarise voters with the President and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of election day.

“As someone who is also a grassroots politician, door-to-door campaigning has a way of making people aware of what is happening, and on election day they will come out because the name of Mr President will not be new to them,” Aiyedatiwa said.

The governor also linked his administration’s capacity to execute infrastructure projects partly to the Federal Government’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of the fuel subsidy, which he said had increased the funds available to states for development.

Pondi said the campaign vehicles would be deployed to communities, homes, churches, mosques, markets and creeks to reach voters across the state.

He said the movement aimed to explain its reasons for supporting Tinubu’s re-election and challenged members to secure more than one million votes for the President in Ondo State.

Ondo APC Chairman Kolawole Babatunde also said the party had structures in place to mobilise support, urging members to intensify their campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The initiative adds to the growing political mobilisation ahead of the next presidential election. The movement’s stated target, however, remains a campaign objective rather than a confirmed electoral outcome.
