The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and oil pipeline security contractor Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, have rallied support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The leaders spoke in Jos during the inauguration of the Plateau State and local government structures of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a support group established to mobilise grassroots backing for the President.
The event also featured the unveiling of 25 campaign vehicles and other mobilisation materials intended to support the group’s activities across the state.
Yilwatda described Tinubu as a friend of Plateau State and urged residents to support the President and APC candidates in the next general election.
He cited federal security interventions and ongoing road projects as evidence of the administration’s engagement with the state.
The APC chairman also referred to the deployment of Department of State Services personnel to troubled communities, including Bokkos and Riyom, as well as plans to establish additional military formations and deploy forest guards.
Yilwatda argued that these measures demonstrated the Federal Government’s response to security challenges in the state.
Governor Mutfwang, who was previously associated with a different political platform, said his decision to support Tinubu followed a meeting with the President in June 2023.
He said he had become convinced that Tinubu’s leadership was moving the country forward and urged Nigerians to remain committed to the administration’s economic policies.
Mutfwang acknowledged that challenges remained but expressed confidence that the country could make progress under the current direction.
The event was also attended by representatives of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, whose National Coordinator, Sunday Asuku, said the inauguration formed part of a wider nationwide mobilisation effort for Tinubu’s re-election.
Asuku urged coordinators to intensify grassroots engagement and communicate the administration’s policies to residents.
The movement is expected to organise campaign activities across local government areas and communities in Plateau State ahead of the 2027 elections.
The unveiling of the vehicles marks an effort to strengthen the group’s mobilisation capacity, while the participation of political leaders from different backgrounds highlights the campaign’s attempt to broaden its support base.
The leaders’ endorsements reflect their political positions and campaign objectives. The level of support they can mobilise will be tested during the election process.
