The Fulani community in Jigawa State has endorsed President Bola Tinubu, Governor Umar Namadi and candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to a report by Vanguard, community leader Alhaji Shehu Hadejia said the endorsement reflected the community’s interest in issues affecting livestock farmers and relations between farmers and herders.
The endorsement comes as political parties and community groups begin positioning themselves ahead of the next general election.
Governor Namadi welcomed the community’s support and highlighted his administration’s initiatives relating to livestock development, grazing reserves and animal vaccination.
He also said the state government had invested about ₦3.1 billion in artificial insemination programmes over the previous two to three years.
The initiatives form part of the administration’s stated efforts to develop livestock production and improve the agricultural sector in Jigawa State.
Support from community groups could strengthen the APC’s grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of 2027. However, the endorsement represents the position of the group involved and does not, on its own, establish the voting intentions of the wider Fulani population in the state.
The development highlights the role of agricultural policy, pastoralist concerns and community engagement in political discussions ahead of the elections.
As the campaign period approaches, parties are expected to continue engaging community leaders and interest groups over policies affecting livelihoods, security and economic development.
