Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, saying four years is insufficient for his administration’s reforms to yield the desired results.
Adeleke made the appeal on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The governor said Tinubu needed more time to implement his policies, adding that he had decided to support the President’s bid for a second term.
“We must give our father, the President of this nation, time for his reform to work. It’s not easy. Four years is not enough,” Adeleke said.
He expressed confidence in Tinubu’s chances in the 2027 presidential election, declaring that he could already feel victory approaching.
The governor also called on Nigerians to support the President, stressing that the country needed action rather than excessive talk.
“We don’t have time. The work has begun. I’ve already started mine. Let us rise and make sure our president comes back for the second time,” he said.
Adeleke further urged Nigerians to continue praying for the President, maintaining that his success would benefit the country.
“Continue praying for Mr President. If he succeeds, we all succeed. And I know by the special grace of God, we shall get there,” he added.
The governor was recently named the coordinator of Tinubu’s presidential campaign in Osun State in a revised campaign council list released on Tuesday, October 13.
Other prominent figures named in the list include the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who will coordinate the campaign in Rivers State and the FCT, and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
At the inauguration, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda described the campaign council as a “rainbow coalition”, reflecting the involvement of politicians from different parties.
Adeleke currently governs Osun State on the platform of the Accord Party, despite his participation in the APC-led presidential campaign council.
The campaign council was constituted on August 22, with Tinubu as chairman, Vice President Kashim Shettima as vice chairman, former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as secretary.
The APC is scheduled to flag off its presidential campaign in Kaduna on October 24.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled Nigeria’s next presidential election for January 16, 2027.
