The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Lagos Axis, has issued letters of commendation to Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule, praising their commitment to student welfare and development.

In separate letters dated April 8, 2026, and signed by NANS JCC Lagos Chairman, Quadri Odewunmi, and General Secretary, Adetola Olagunju, the student body highlighted key interventions by the state government, particularly in ensuring the safety and well-being of students.

NANS specifically commended the swift evacuation of Lagos State students from Plateau State during a period of unrest, describing the action as timely and commendable.

Sanwo-Olu

“Your swift response and commitment to the safety and well-being of students in a time of uncertainty and distress is highly commendable. This act of responsibility and leadership reflects a deep sense of duty and genuine concern for the welfare of Nigerian students, irrespective of their location,” the letter addressed to Hon. Tolani Sule read.

The association noted that the intervention not only provided immediate relief to affected students and their families but also reinforced confidence in the responsiveness of the Lagos State Government on student-related matters.

In its letter to Governor Sanwo-Olu, NANS applauded his administration’s broader achievements, including infrastructure development and investments in education across the state.

“We sincerely appreciate the landmark projects executed under your leadership, especially the construction and rehabilitation of major road networks across the state. These developments have significantly eased traffic congestion, thereby enhancing the ease of movement for students commuting daily,” the statement read.
