Nigerian Breweries Plc, through the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, has inaugurated a Digital Learning Centre at Wisdom International School of Excellence (WISE), Sauka, Lugbe, Abuja.
The initiative, dedicated in honour of Ms Serah Yusuf, winner of the 2025 Maltina Teacher of the Year Competition, is designed to strengthen digital learning and equip students with skills relevant to the future of work.
The Digital Learning Centre is part of the broader objectives of the Maltina Teacher of the Year initiative, which recognises outstanding educators while extending the benefits of their achievements to their students and wider school communities.

The centre is equipped with computers, internet connectivity, a smart screen, computer-based testing (CBT) facilities, digital learning and assessment tools, as well as a 10KVA solar-powered inverter system.
Speaking at the commissioning, Chukwuemeka Aniukwu, Head of Public, External and Government Affairs at Nigerian Breweries Plc, said the project demonstrated the Education Trust Fund’s commitment to ensuring that the impact of the Maltina Teacher of the Year award extends beyond individual recognition.
He said the investment in digital learning would provide students with greater access to technology-enabled education and create lasting benefits for the school community.
Representing the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Mr Afowowe said the initiative aligned with the Ministry’s education reform agenda, particularly the Nigerian Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) Pillar One on data and digitalisation, as well as priorities including STEMM and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Also speaking, Dr Iyabode Alli, Deputy Director of Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, commended the Trust Fund for its contribution to educational development.

Alli highlighted the importance of digital learning infrastructure and public-private partnerships in improving teaching and learning outcomes.
The Head of Academics at WISE Schools, Adesuwa Ogwu, expressed appreciation to the Education Trust Fund for the investment, noting that the centre would enhance the school’s capacity to deliver digital learning to its students.
A learner at WISE, Miss Great, urged her fellow students to maximise the opportunities provided by the new centre, particularly in areas such as Microsoft Office, graphics design, coding, programming, artificial intelligence, CBT and examination preparation.
She said the facilities would support the school’s “Roadmap to a Brighter Future and the Future of Work.”
The award recipient, Ms Serah Yusuf, expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund and WISE, while encouraging other teachers to remain committed to excellence in their profession.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by representatives of the Federal Ministry of Education, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, a partner in the initiative, Nigerian Breweries Plc, traditional rulers, the Sauka New Site Landlords Association and members of the school community.
The initiative is expected to provide WISE students with enhanced access to digital education, technology-based assessments and practical skills as they prepare for further education and the evolving demands of the workplace.
