Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has inaugurated the Bola Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council in the state, bringing together members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the International Convention Centre in Awka on Sunday, with political stakeholders from the state’s 21 local government areas in attendance.
The gathering included candidates and members of both parties, serving and former members of the National Assembly, state lawmakers, local government chairmen and other political leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Soludo urged members of the two parties to work together and intensify grassroots mobilisation, particularly at ward and polling-unit levels.
“We must work together for the re-election of the President. This is a journey that is for everybody in the region with one objective, which is to get Mr President re-elected. It is an inclusive journey, and everybody is welcome. It is ‘progressives working together’,” the governor said.
He described Tinubu as the leader of the progressive movement and called on political stakeholders in the South-East to support the President’s second-term ambition.
Soludo also argued that closer cooperation between the region and the Federal Government would strengthen the South-East’s political relevance and create opportunities for development.
According to the governor, the state’s engagement with the Federal Government was important because major infrastructure projects, including railways, roads and gas pipelines, required resources beyond the capacity of an individual state government.
“We are here working for the re-election of a President who has done so well for the South-East because we believe in him. We believe in his reformation agenda, and we believe that he is what Nigeria needs at this point,” he said.
Soludo further attributed increased federal allocations, infrastructure development and economic stability to the Tinubu administration’s reforms.
He urged residents of Anambra and other South-Eastern states to support the President at the 2027 polls, arguing that the region should build a strategic partnership with the Federal Government.
The governor formally inaugurated the campaign council after members sang the President’s campaign slogan, “On the mandate we shall stand.”
He also disclosed that the full structure of the campaign council, comprising members of the APC and APGA, would be unveiled subsequently.
The development represents a political collaboration between the two parties in Anambra ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
