Abba Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, citing his personal conviction and assessment of the administration’s policies.
Abba, who is the founder and chairman of the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation (HBTO), made the declaration on Friday during a press conference in Abuja.
He explained that his decision to establish the pro-Tinubu political organisation was a personal political choice and should not be determined by his family background or relationships.
His position has attracted attention because his father, Atiku Abubakar, is a former presidential candidate and is pursuing his own political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general election.
Addressing the issue, Abba maintained that individuals should have the freedom to make independent political decisions, regardless of the political positions held by members of their families.
“My decision to establish and lead the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation is a deliberate political choice, one I have made in my personal capacity and with a firm belief in the direction we have chosen to pursue,” he said.
He added that he respected the right of other Nigerians to hold different political opinions and expected the same consideration for his own political convictions.
According to him, the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation was established as a political mobilisation and support platform for Nigerians who believe in Tinubu’s leadership and the reform agenda of the All Progressives Congress-led administration.
The organisation is expected to mobilise support for the President ahead of the 2027 general election.
As part of its activities, the group announced plans for a two-million-man mobilisation march across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Abba’s declaration comes amid increasing political activities and alignments ahead of the next general election.
His support for Tinubu also highlights the different political positions emerging within prominent political families as preparations for the 2027 contest gather momentum.
The 2027 presidential election is expected to feature competing political interests, with parties and support groups already working to strengthen their structures and build nationwide mobilisation networks.
