DESJAM Nigeria Limited, a dredging company based in Ibeshe, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, has rewarded its staff with motorcycles, household items, foodstuffs, cash and a brand new car, in a gesture aimed at appreciating their dedication and commitment to the company’s growth.
The appreciation event, organised by the management of the company, witnessed the distribution of three brand new motorcycles, standing fans, bags of rice, groundnut oil, cow meat and cash gifts to staff members who were described as outstanding in service and loyalty.
According to the management, the initiative was designed to motivate the workforce and recognise the sacrifices made by staff throughout the year, despite economic and operational challenges. The company also announced a plan to provide highly subsidised haulage vehicles to three dedicated staff, to be paid for conveniently in instalments.
Speaking at the event, the company’s manager, Mr. Abideen Sodsinde, commended the gesture and expressed gratitude to the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Jamiu Adesina, for prioritising staff welfare. He described the initiative as rare and commendable in the current business environment.
The general manager while sharing his testimony, said the company had positively shaped his personal and professional life. “I joined this company in 2021. Ever since then, I have never regretted being a worker here. I have learnt a lot of lessons and gained skills that are helping me today,” he said.
Expressing his appreciation further, he added, “I am happy that our boss is doing this for me despite all the challenges we faced. He is truly a man of care who cares for the well-being of all the staff.”
Sodeinde charged staff members to embrace accountability, loyalty and dedication in their duties. He noted that lack of accountability remains a major challenge in the country, stressing that discipline and responsible leadership begin with being accountable. “Not only at work, accountability is needed everywhere, including our homes,” he said.
He further urged staff to always remember that they are accountable for their actions, noting that accountability helps individuals to remain guided and do the right thing at all times.
Also speaking, Mr. Ogunyemi Rasak delivered an emotional appreciation, recounting how Chief Jamiu Adesina had been instrumental in his success.
“I know myself years back and I know who I am currently. Thank God and Chief Jamui Olasunbanni. I will forever appreciate him for his contribution to my life,” he said, while also acknowledging an ongoing building project being handled for him by the company’s leadership.
In his remarks, the CEO, High Chief Jamiu Adesina, praised the staff for their dedication and assured them that the gesture was meant to further boost morale and productivity.
“This company started less than two years ago, but we deemed it necessary to appreciate our staff. Everyone deserves to be happy, and that is why we are extending this gesture to you all,” he said.
The CEO clarified that not all staff would receive vehicles, motorcycles or loans immediately, explaining that the beneficiaries were selected based on exceptional commitment.
“I observe everyone and I will keep observing. Next year, definitely, we will distribute more than this,” he added, while announcing the gift of a brand new car to the company’s general manager.
Some members of the host community also benefited from the outreach, as the event concluded on a high note with prayers and goodwill messages for the company’s leadership.
Staff members who received standing fans include Adio Shola, Michael Tanro and Raymond Segio, while Adeolu Tabiti, Lukmon Basanya and Salami Kazeem received motorcycles. The beneficiaries, alongside other staff, expressed gratitude and prayed for continued growth and success for DESJAM Nigeria Limited.
