The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has unveiled Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Balogun as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Mrs. Balogun will run alongside the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, on the APC ticket.
Her emergence followed the announcement by Ogun State Governor and APC leader in the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun, during the party’s Strategic Stakeholders’ Meeting held in Abeokuta, where he disclosed that the deputy governorship position had been zoned to Ogun East Senatorial District.
Speaking on the selection, Governor Abiodun said the decision was reached after extensive consultations within the party and in line with the APC’s zoning arrangement. He noted that Mrs. Balogun’s educational qualifications, corporate achievements, leadership experience and commitment to development made her a suitable choice for the position.
Mrs. Balogun is a seasoned finance and business executive with more than three decades of experience in strategic finance, corporate governance, manufacturing, business transformation and economic development.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Lagos and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from Bayes Business School, London. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and has attended executive leadership programmes at Harvard Business School and the Wharton School.
Currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director, Finance and Information Technology at Rite Foods Limited, Mrs. Balogun is credited with contributing significantly to the growth and expansion of the indigenous manufacturing company.
The APC said her nomination underscores the party’s commitment to competence, inclusiveness and effective governance, while also strengthening its ticket ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.
The party further described Mrs. Balogun as a strong advocate of economic empowerment, women and youth development, and responsible leadership, noting that her leadership philosophy is built on integrity, accountability, excellence and service.
