The Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Hon Lekan Fatodu, has commended the Lagos State Government for its sustained investment in grassroots sports development, as the National Secondary Schools Volleyball Championship gathers momentum in the state.
Fatodu, who visited participating teams at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, said the competition reflects the government’s deliberate effort to promote inclusivity and talent discovery across all levels of sports.
“Lagos State remains committed to the development of all sports, and we are intentional about creating platforms like this championship to discover and nurture young talents,” he said.
He added that the state would continue to provide equal opportunities for athletes to thrive, noting that grassroots competitions remain critical to building a strong pipeline for future champions.
The championship, which features 13 states, serves as a breeding ground for emerging volleyball talents, with top teams expected to represent Nigeria at the International School Volleyball Championship in Shangluo, China, later in the year.
