The Federal Ministry of Education has transitioned the authentication and evaluation of academic credentials to a fully digital platform, eliminating the need for physical verification.
The move, announced in a press statement issued on April 15, 2026, is part of broader efforts to enhance transparency, improve efficiency, and modernise service delivery within the education sector.
Under the new system, all applications will be processed online through the ministry’s official verification portal, with applicants required to upload relevant documents and follow prescribed procedures.
Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, said the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s commitment to digital transformation and improved governance.
“This development aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda and its resolve to deploy modern technology to improve efficiency, ensure data integrity, and support evidence-based policy decisions in the education sector,” she said.
The ministry also directed applicants to ensure that their academic transcripts are forwarded directly by their respective institutions to the designated official email for verification.
It stressed that the new system removes the need for in-person visits to its offices, as all processes will now be conducted electronically.
“The entire process will now be conducted electronically, and applicants are no longer required to visit the Ministry for physical verification,” the statement added.
The ministry noted that the digital transition is expected to reduce processing delays, streamline procedures, and strengthen the credibility of academic credential verification in the country.
Applicants were advised to strictly adhere to the new guidelines to ensure seamless processing of their applications.
