As Christians across the world commemorate Good Friday, the Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, has called on youths to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, love, and selfless service exemplified by Jesus Christ.
Adigun made this call in a personally signed statement released on Friday from the Lagos Youth House, where he rejoiced with Christian faithful and urged young people to reflect deeply on the significance of the day.
Describing Good Friday as a solemn and significant occasion, he noted that it serves as a reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ for the redemption of humanity.
“On this solemn occasion of this year’s Good Friday, we are reminded of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ for the atonement of our sins and the assurance of everlasting life,” he said.
He further charged youths across Lagos State to take advantage of the sacred moment to reassess their values and recommit themselves to positive living.
“As we reflect on the importance of this day, I call on esteemed youths of Lagos to rededicate our lives to the virtues of sacrifice, love, humility, and service to humanity which Christ exemplified,” Adigun stated.
The youth leader also emphasized the need for unity, peace, and responsible citizenship, warning against social vices that could derail the progress of society.
“Let’s use this sacred moment to renew our commitment to peace, unity, and responsible citizenship, while shunning all forms of violence, drug abuse, and social vices that threaten our collective progress,” he added.
While extending his goodwill to Christians, Adigun encouraged youths to remain steadfast in contributing positively to their communities and the development of Lagos State.
“May the message of Good Friday inspire us to remain agents of positive change in our respective areas and to continue working together for a greater and more prosperous Lagos,” he concluded.
