Rather than delivering a typical motivational speech, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, used the ‘Turning Point 7.0’ conference to push a more pragmatic message: ideas alone are not enough—execution, discipline, and economic relevance are what truly matter.

Speaking at the event hosted at University of Lagos, the deputy governor—represented by youth commissioner Mobolaji Ogunlende—shifted the focus from inspiration to action. He challenged young people to move beyond passion projects and begin translating their knowledge into structured, ethical ventures that can create real-world impact.

The conference, convened by Olusegun Odufuwa, became less about aspiration and more about strategy. Speakers consistently emphasized that resilience, adaptability, and continuous self-education are now essential tools—not optional extras—in a rapidly changing economy.

A key economic angle emerged from Nonye Ayeni of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, who positioned youths not just as future leaders but as immediate drivers of Nigeria’s non-oil export growth. Her message reframed entrepreneurship as a national duty, urging participants to tap into agriculture, creative industries, and global trade.

Entrepreneur Kelechi Uchegbulem reinforced this shift by highlighting consistency over hype, while Ayodeji Razaq warned against overreliance on raw talent, calling instead for strategic reinvention and calculated risk-taking.

With over 3,000 attendees, including students from Yaba College of Technology, the gathering reflected a growing recognition: Nigeria’s youth conversation is evolving—from inspiration to implementation, from ambition to measurable impact.
