The Lagos State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has intensified its anti-cultism and grassroots advocacy campaign across Ikeja, Ojodu LCDA and Onigbongbo LCDA through its “Back2Street Initiative” aimed at addressing social vices among youths.
This was disclosed in a Facebook post by the council state Chairman, Engr. Ibrahim Adigun, on Friday, May 15, 2026.
According to Adigun, the initiative was designed to deepen grassroots engagement and sensitise young people on the dangers of cultism and other criminal activities.
He explained that members of the council took the campaign directly to the streets within Ikeja, where they engaged residents and youths on the importance of peace, responsibility and community development.
A major highlight of the outreach, he said, was a courtesy visit to Oba Oluwasegun Adeyemi Ajasa, during which the council reaffirmed its commitment to building a safer and more responsible society for young people.
The NYCN chairman also revealed that the delegation held a strategic conversation with Area F Police Commander, ACP Paul Okafor, where both parties reiterated their commitment to strengthening the anti-cultism campaign across communities in Lagos.
Adigun commended council chairmen involved in the initiative, particularly Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, for receiving the delegation and sharing insights on government initiatives aimed at curbing social vices affecting young people in the community.
He noted that collaboration and proactive leadership remained crucial to building safer and more productive communities for youths, adding that the “Back2Street Initiative” would next move to the Lagos Central Senatorial District.
