The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has clarified that the Indomie Noodles Vegetable Flavour recently recalled in France does not originate from Nigeria and is not registered for sale in the Nigerian market.

In a press release dated December 22, 2025, NAFDAC explained that the recall, announced by French authorities under the Rappel Conso alert system, was due to the presence of undeclared allergens—milk and eggs—which could pose serious health risks to consumers with allergies or intolerances.

“The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has noted the recall of Indomie Noodles Vegetable Flavour by French authorities… due to the presence of undeclared allergens (milk and eggs), which may pose health risks to consumers with allergies or intolerances,” the Agency stated.

NAFDAC stressed that the affected product has no connection to Nigeria, noting that it is neither manufactured in the country nor registered by the Agency.

“NAFDAC clarifies that the recalled product does not originate from Nigeria and is not registered by the Agency for sale in the Nigerian market,” the statement read.

The Agency further pointed out that noodles are included on the Federal Government’s Import Prohibition List, making their importation into Nigeria illegal and significantly reducing the possibility of the recalled product entering the country.

“As a proactive regulatory measure, NAFDAC has intensified surveillance nationwide and directed all zonal directors and state coordinators to remain vigilant and immediately mop up the product if found within their jurisdictions,” the Agency said.

It added that the Ports Inspection Directorate has been placed on alert to prevent any attempt to import the implicated product into Nigeria.

Reassuring the public, NAFDAC noted that all Indomie instant noodles and other noodle brands approved for sale in Nigeria are produced locally and only after meeting strict regulatory standards.

“The Agency further assures the public that all Indomie instant noodles and other noodle brands registered by NAFDAC for sale in Nigeria are manufactured locally and approved only after meeting stringent regulatory requirements, including compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP),” the statement said.

NAFDAC advised consumers to remain cautious, avoid unregistered food products, and promptly report any suspected sale or distribution of the recalled product.
“Consumers are advised to report any suspected sale or distribution of the recalled product to the nearest NAFDAC office or call the toll-free line 0800-162-3322,” the Agency added.

The statement, signed by the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to protecting public health and ensuring the safety of food products available in Nigeria.
