The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert warning Nigerians about the circulation of counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachet in the country.
In a statement tagged Public Alert No. 026/2025, the agency disclosed that the fake products are being passed off as Cowbell “Our Milk,” a brand which manufacturer, Promasidor Nigeria Ltd, officially discontinued in September 2023. The company replaced it with Cowbell “Our Creamy Goodness” more than a year ago.

NAFDAC explained that the counterfeit products currently in circulation illegally bear the Cowbell name, the agency’s registration number, and the old packaging design. The products are neither produced nor distributed by Promasidor, making them unsafe for public consumption.
Risk to Consumers
The agency warned that consuming the counterfeit milk could expose Nigerians to serious health risks, including foodborne illnesses, allergic reactions, organ damage, and even death in extreme cases. Vulnerable groups such as infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly face heightened risks from such unsafe products.
