The Forum of State Chairmen of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the successful rescue of teachers and pupils abducted from the Local Authority Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Forum and NYCN Lagos State Chairman, Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, the youth body described the successful rescue as a major relief to the victims’ families, the people of Oyo State, and Nigerians.

The forum said the operation underscored the President’s commitment to protecting lives and property through sustained investments in the nation’s security architecture.

“The successful rescue of the abducted teachers and pupils of the Local Authority Primary School, Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, is another testament to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians through sustained investments in the nation’s security architecture,” the statement read.

It also praised the President’s leadership in strengthening the country’s security agencies.

“We commend the strategic leadership of President Tinubu in providing the necessary support, resources, and policy direction that continue to strengthen the capacity of our security institutions in combating criminality across the country,” the forum stated.

The youth body further applauded the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local vigilante groups, and other security agencies for their professionalism, bravery, and coordinated efforts during the rescue mission.

“We equally salute the gallant officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local vigilante groups, and every other security agency involved in the intelligence gathering and rescue operation,” the statement added.

While celebrating the rescue of the victims, the forum expressed sadness over the deaths of a soldier and teachers reportedly killed during the incident.

“While rejoicing with the rescued teachers, pupils, and their families, we mourn the slain soldier and teachers gruesomely killed by the terrorists and pray for the repose of their souls,” it said.

The NYCN urged security agencies to sustain ongoing operations against kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes, while encouraging Nigerians to support security agencies with credible intelligence and community cooperation.

The forum reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Federal Government in promoting peace, national unity, youth development, and community-based security initiatives.

“The National Youth Council of Nigeria, through the Forum of State Chairmen, reaffirms its unwavering commitment to partnering with the Federal Government in promoting peace, national unity, youth development, and community-based security initiatives. We remain confident that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria will continue to witness significant progress in security, economic growth, and sustainable national development for the benefit of present and future generations,” the statement concluded.
