Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has inaugurated a seven-member intervention committee to coordinate relief and recovery efforts for survivors and families affected by the recent terrorist attack in Woro community.
The committee, constituted by the governor, is tasked with engaging directly with affected families, community leaders, and residents to identify urgent needs ranging from rehabilitation and medical support to livelihood restoration, infrastructure rebuilding, and psychosocial care.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday evening, Governor AbdulRazaq condemned the February 3, 2026 attack, describing it as a tragic incident that left deep scars on the community. He assured residents that his administration remains committed to supporting victims and ensuring justice is served.
“Today, my heart remains heavy as we gather in the shadow of the horrible terrorist attack that struck Woro on 3rd February 2026. At least 75 precious lives or more were cruelly taken, while homes and families were shattered by the mindless terrorists who sought to impose their warped ideology on the rest of us,” the governor said.
He emphasized that the state government is working closely with federal authorities and security agencies to prevent a recurrence and to strengthen security across Kwara.
“We will leave no stone unturned in pursuing justice for our people and strengthen security across our state. We are already coordinating with federal authorities and security agencies to ensure this evil does not ever happen again. Kwara stands with you. Together, we will heal, rebuild, and emerge stronger. We shall not bow to fear or intimidation of any deranged ideology,” he added.
According to the governor, the committee is expected to act as a bridge between the government and affected communities, ensuring that all interventions are community-driven, transparent, and effective.
Chairman of the committee and Kiwozi of Kugiji, Hon. Ahmed Ibn Muhammad, assured that members would work diligently to reach out to victims and ensure their needs are addressed.
He pledged that the committee would do everything possible to connect with affected individuals and families to facilitate meaningful support and recovery.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by members of the state cabinet, prominent leaders from Kaiama, and top civil servants.
