The All Progressives Congress has expanded its presidential campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general elections, appointing former Nasarawa State Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, former Deputy Senate President Victor Ndoma-Egba and other political figures to key mobilisation roles.
The appointments are part of efforts to strengthen coordination for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, disclosed the development on Wednesday, explaining that the appointment list had been expanded to improve the party’s campaign organisation.
The list was signed by the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru.
Other appointees include former Ondo State governorship aspirant Olusola Oke (SAN), alongside politicians, professionals and stakeholders assigned to various directorates.
The expanded structure covers several areas, including legal affairs, education, sports, manufacturing and small-business mobilisation, labour relations, humanitarian services, health, infrastructure, policy development and election planning.
The Directorate of Education Sector Mobilisation includes academics such as Professor Shehu Musa Alhaji, Associate Professor Sunusi Yakubu, Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa and Professor Kabir Ibrahim Matazu.
The sports mobilisation directorate also has designated members, including Jimoh Adekunle Nujeem, Comfort Ajeh Richard, Soso Soberekon and Rikaya Ladidi Bawa Bosso.
Other directorates will focus on artisan mobilisation, faith-based engagement, parliamentary mobilisation, welfare, financial services and technical support.
Al-Makura and Ali Sa’ad were also named as advisers to the campaign chairman.
According to the party, the expanded structure is intended to bring different professional and social groups into the campaign organisation while improving coordination across the country.
The APC had earlier unveiled its Presidential Campaign Council in October. President Tinubu inaugurated the council at the Presidential Villa on October 14, with former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari appointed as Director-General.
The party also assigned governors and other political leaders responsibilities for coordinating campaign activities in different states.
The latest appointments signal continued preparations by the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The campaign council will be expected to coordinate voter mobilisation, policy messaging and engagement with different constituencies as the election season approaches.
The appointments, however, represent the party’s organisational plans rather than a prediction of the election outcome, which will ultimately be determined by voters and the official results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
