Mr. Babatunde Abubakar has been inaugurated as the President of the Mushin/Odiolowo Agenda (MOA), an association of major WhatsApp group owners in Mushin and Odiolowo, with a pledge to transform the body into a respected media institution and promote accountability in governance.
Abubakar, who recently emerged victorious in a keenly contested election, was formally inaugurated on Saturday amid commendations from members and stakeholders of the association.

Speaking after taking the oath of office, the new president expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah, members of the association, and his mentors for their support, attributing his emergence to divine grace, mentorship, and years of preparation for leadership.
He described the election as highly competitive, noting that despite the intensity of the contest, the leadership values instilled in him over the years enabled him to secure victory.
Unveiling his administration’s blueprint, Abubakar said his leadership would move MOA beyond its traditional role of information dissemination to become a vibrant media institution capable of influencing public discourse and promoting good governance.
According to him, the association under his watch will engage public office holders through media briefings and press conferences while creating avenues for residents to provide direct feedback on government programmes, projects, and policies.

“We will not just report news; we will ask questions and demand answers for our people,” he said.
The MOA president also announced plans to expand the association’s presence beyond WhatsApp by establishing official platforms on TikTok, YouTube, X, and Instagram. He further disclosed plans to launch a MOA newspaper and create a unified advertising platform with a common rate card to enhance revenue generation for members.
In a bid to strengthen professionalism among members, Abubakar pledged to organise quarterly training sessions on artificial intelligence, digital monetisation, and video editing.
He also revealed plans to establish a Code of Ethics and a Fact-Checking Desk aimed at combating misinformation, curbing fake news, and enhancing public trust in the association’s activities.
To foster unity and preserve the heritage of the community, the new president said his administration would establish a digital archive documenting the history of Mushin and Odi-Olowo, introduce annual media awards, and encourage joint broadcasts among member platforms.

Abubakar stressed that the transformation agenda for MOA is a collective mission that requires the support and cooperation of all members and stakeholders.
“This is not a one-man agenda. It is the roadmap to take MOA from WhatsApp groups to a respected media institution,” he stated.
He, therefore, called on members, mentors, and stakeholders to continue offering prayers, advice, and support to ensure the success of the administration and the overall growth of the association.
