Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has appointed the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter, Engr. Ibrahim Adigun, as a member of the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund Board.
Adigun’s appointment was announced during the official inauguration of the Board at Lagos House, Marina, where the Governor charged members to prioritise grassroots sports development and institutional sustainability.
Speaking after the inauguration, Sanwo-Olu said, “Today at Lagos House, Marina, I inaugurated the Board of the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund. I have asked this team to stay focused on one clear goal, which is to grow sports in Lagos from the grassroots up. This means investing in school sports, supporting community competitions, and improving the facilities we already have across our divisions.”
The governor stressed that Lagos is rich in sporting talent but requires deliberate investment and infrastructure to fully harness its potential.
“Lagos has never had a shortage of potential, but we all know that even the best athletes can only go so far without the right infrastructure or funding. The talent is here and it is our responsibility to give it the support it deserves,” he added.
Adigun’s inclusion on the board is expected to strengthen youth participation in sports development initiatives, reflecting the state government’s commitment to empowering young people and expanding opportunities within the sports sector.
