A heated exchange on X has stirred widespread reactions after a Nigerian cleric, Dr. Bola Abiodun, publicly placed a “curse” on a young woman for addressing him as “Mr” instead of “Dr.” The confrontation, which played out in real time, quickly gained traction and drew mixed responses from social media users.
The controversy began when the cleric, using the handle @b_abiodun4, insisted on being properly addressed. “I’m a ‘Dr’, not a ‘Mr’. Don’t refer to me as MR again. I’m not your mate,” he wrote. A young woman identified as Mama Abi-girl (@tomisin_ms) replied in what many interpreted as mockery, saying, “mr with the small m,” a comment that appeared to escalate tensions.

Responding sharply, the cleric warned, “You know I’m old enough to be your father? Don’t disrespect me if you don’t want to see my other side.” Rather than retract her statement, the lady repeatedly posted “mr” multiple times, intensifying the exchange and drawing even more attention from users who watched the drama unfold.
The situation took a more serious turn when the cleric invoked spiritual authority. “I’m an anointed man of God. I can curse you now and it’ll take effect for the rest of your lives. Bible says touch not my anointed… Try me and see,” he wrote. He went further to declare, “I, Pastor Dr Bola Abiodun, hereby pronounce a curse on u that if you don’t retract & apologize… u shall pass on to glory in your sleep at 11pm on 23rd Feb, ’26.”
He later doubled down, stating, “Please nobody should beg me on behalf of this girl. She disrespected me and I’ve placed a curse on her.”
