Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to express gratitude for the President’s intervention in the state’s recent political crisis.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Fubara said his visit was primarily to thank the President for his timely role in restoring peace in Rivers.
“I’m here to say thank you, especially for his intervention. We all knew what was happening in Rivers State — the political tension — and if he had not intervened timely, nobody knows what would have happened. For me, it was about saving the situation,” the governor said.
Fubara, who recently resumed duties following the lifting of his suspension, described his return as a “new and stronger hope” for the people of Rivers State.
“Our government is about the people, a government that believes in peace. So, our working is not just for the people but with all the parties — the Assembly members, the National Assembly members, elders — everybody this time around, working for the betterment of our dear state,” he added.
The governor assured that his administration is now ready to “hit the ground running” in delivering dividends of democracy to Rivers residents.
