Fountain University has announced that one of its students, Muadh Adekunle Monsuru, an undergraduate in the Department of Computer Science, has been shortlisted to represent Nigeria at the prestigious NextGen Innovation Challenge Grand Finale scheduled to hold in London.
Muadh, alongside his teammates Bello Fawaz Babatunde and Abiola Awwal Olamide, developed PQ-AI, an artificial intelligence–powered educational platform designed to help students across different backgrounds and educational levels prepare more effectively for their studies. The project is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), highlighting its global relevance in tackling educational challenges.
The journey began during the University’s 13th Convocation Ceremony, where the team participated in an Innovation Challenge aimed at fostering creativity and problem-solving among students. Emerging as winners at that stage, they advanced to the Osun State Innovation Challenge organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, where they also came first. Their success at the state level earned them a spot at the national round, where they presented their work before leading policymakers, including the Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology.
Out of more than 3,000 applicants worldwide, Muadh’s team was shortlisted to compete at the global finale, which is being organized by UKALD in collaboration with the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).
Reacting to the achievement, the Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, commended the students for their creativity and resilience.
“Muadh and his teammates represent the best of Fountain University’s vision – to raise individuals who are not only academically sound but also equipped to solve real-world problems. Their journey from the campus stage to the global stage is a testament to the talent we continue to nurture at Fountain University,” she said.
Prof. Karim also praised the efforts of the Centre for Research, Innovation and Technology, led by Dr. Rasheed Adebiyi, for providing mentorship and support to the team.
This recognition, according to the University, not only places Fountain University on the global innovation map but also serves as an inspiration to Nigerian youths to leverage knowledge, technology, and creativity for societal transformation.
