Electricity distribution company, Ikeja Electric, has attributed the ongoing reduction in power supply across its network to a nationwide decline in electricity generation caused by limited gas supply to thermal power plants.
In a public notice released on March 23, 2026, the company explained that the shortage has significantly reduced the energy available on the national grid, thereby affecting allocations to distribution companies, including Ikeja Electric.
According to the firm, the development has directly impacted the volume of electricity available for distribution to customers within its coverage areas, leading to noticeable outages and reduced supply hours.
The company, however, expressed regret over the situation and appealed for patience from its customers as efforts continue to manage the available supply.
“We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused by this development and appreciate your patience and understanding during this period,” the management stated.
Ikeja Electric added that it remains committed to ensuring that the limited electricity available is distributed as efficiently and equitably as possible across its network.
