Former Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Rasaaq Ajala, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his reforms, declaring that without Tinubu’s intervention, the cost of essential commodities such as bread would have skyrocketed beyond the reach of ordinary Nigerians.
Ajala made this assertion during a community engagement with residents and political leaders, where he openly lauded Tinubu’s leadership style and policies aimed at improving the lives of citizens.
“If not for Tinubu, the price of bread would have been inflated to ₦10,000 a loaf. Asiwaju is the man of the people, and all his policies are directed at bettering the lives of the people,” Ajala said.
Acknowledging the Harsh Beginnings of Reform
Speaking further, Ajala admitted that the start of Tinubu’s reforms may appear tough, but he assured the gathering that the temporary pain would eventually give way to long-term gain.
“It is good that the beginning is tough. In the end, all of you will praise the President, and we shall all enjoy the dividend of democracy,” he stated.
Ajala lamented the depth of rot in the national system over the years, which he described as severe and far-reaching, stressing that the corrective measures being introduced by Tinubu were necessary to rebuild the country.
Shared Responsibility Beyond the Presidency
The former LCDA boss emphasized that the President alone does not constitute the government, insisting that other leaders at federal, state and local levels also have a duty to deliver quality governance.
“The president alone is not the government. Everyone in a position of authority has a role to play,” Ajala said.
He particularly commended the current Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Seyi Jakande, for initiating several community-focused programmes that complement Tinubu’s reforms.
Education as a Priority
Ajala highlighted President Tinubu’s landmark introduction of the student loan scheme, describing it as a life-changing intervention for poor families.
“For the first time, the children of a book seller can afford to attend university because of the student loan introduced by the President. The poor don’t live in the past—let’s appreciate Tinubu. He has now made life easy for all university students,” he declared.
He also pointed out additional efforts at the grassroots level, including Hon. Jakande’s provision of free GCE and JAMB forms to indigent students, and Hon. Adeyemi Alli, representing Mushin I Federal Constituency, who similarly supports students with free JAMB forms.
According to Ajala, these initiatives at both the federal and local levels are signs that “this renewed administration is a blessing to everyone.”
