Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that the Lagos State Government will inject an additional ₦5 billion into the next phase of construction of the State’s 10,000-capacity NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Agbowa, Ikorodu.

The governor made this known while receiving the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, in his office.

Sanwo-Olu commended corps members for their contributions to the state’s growth, describing the NYSC scheme as a “national pride” and urging participants to embrace their service year with dignity and honour.

Reassuring the scheme of government support, the governor promised to look into the DG’s requests for an ambulance and other equipment to improve camp operations. He further disclosed that Lagos had reviewed upward the minimum wage for corps members serving directly in state government institutions, in line with current economic realities.

“Lagos is responsible and responsive to the needs of the NYSC, and we will continue to provide an enabling environment where corps members feel wanted, loved, and fulfilled throughout their service year,” Sanwo-Olu said.

With over 44,000 corps members currently serving in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu said the statistics affirm the state’s position as the centre of excellence. He added that the state remains committed to ensuring that the new permanent orientation camp, whose construction began in January 2025, will meet global standards.
