The Lagos State Sports Commission has called on billionaire businessman Femi Otedola to lend his influence to the forthcoming Lagos CycleFest, citing his growing passion for cycling and healthy living as an inspiration for residents across the state.
Director General of the State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, made the appeal in a statement titled “Femi Otedola Rides On: A Narration for Lagos CycleFest.”
Fatodu noted that Otedola’s cycling activities across major global cities have attracted widespread attention and align closely with the objectives of the Lagos CycleFest initiative.
“From Maldives to Singapore, and recently in Paris, Otedola has continued to apply more power to the pedal across these global cities, demonstrating physical fitness while also promoting clean mobility and zero emission,” Fatodu said.
According to him, the Lagos CycleFest was introduced by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos Sports Commission in partnership with the British Cycling Association to encourage wellness, active living and environmental sustainability.
He described the event as “a thrilling, wellness-focused cycling event designed to promote physical well-being, encourage clean mobility, and advance the conversation around zero emission.”
Fatodu added that Otedola’s visibility and influence could help amplify the campaign for healthier lifestyles among Lagos residents.
“In identifying with his growing passion for cycling and his visible promotion of healthy living across global cities, the Lagos State Sports Commission is optimistically beckoning on Otedola to champion Lagos CycleFest and inspire thousands of Lagos residents to embrace active living, clean mobility, and a healthier lifestyle,” he stated.
The sports commission boss also expressed hope that the businessman would make a surprise appearance at the event.
“Hopefully, Femi Otedola will surprise Lagos cycling enthusiasts by taking a frontline ride at the forthcoming Lagos CycleFest, just as he has consistently done during his leisure cycling rides across other parts of the world,” Fatodu added.
