The Office of the Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe, has issued a strong disclaimer distancing the council from a fraudulent circular requesting residents’ personal details under the guise of a Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme.
According to the statement, the fake circular has been circulating within the community, soliciting sensitive personal information such as National Identification Numbers (NIN), Bank Verification Numbers (BVN), and bank account details. The office made it clear that the request did not originate from Hon. Aruwe or the Mushin Local Government Council.
“Members of the public are strongly advised to exercise caution and refrain from submitting sensitive personal information to unauthorized persons or platforms,” the statement warned.
The council emphasized that any genuine government programme or empowerment initiative would be formally announced through verified communication channels of the Mushin Local Government, Lagos State Government, or the Federal Government.
Hon. Aruwe further reassured residents of his administration’s commitment to safeguarding their interests. “The Executive Chairman, Tunbosun Aruwe, remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the well-being of all residents of Mushin Local Government,” the statement concluded.
Authorities have urged residents to stay vigilant, verify information before responding to such requests, and report suspicious activities to the local council.
