The Commander of the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (CCST), Major General Nansak Danjuma Shagaya, has convened a two-day strategic conference in Benin City, Edo State, aimed at strengthening logistics operations and improving service delivery across military missions nationwide.
The conference, which commenced on March 24, 2026, at the Muhammadu Buhari Auditorium, Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport (NASST), is themed “Optimising ST Capabilities Towards Providing Effective Service Delivery to Nigerian Army Operations in All Missions.” It is focused on reviewing the Corps’ operational effectiveness amid Nigeria’s evolving security landscape.
Speaking at the event, Major General Shagaya described the gathering as a critical platform for reflection, collaboration, and innovation among commanders and senior officers. He emphasised the growing importance of logistics in modern warfare, noting that operational success depends not only on combat strength but also on efficient and resilient supply systems.
“The contemporary operational landscape in which the Nigerian Army operates is increasingly complex and multidimensional. Modern military operations are characterised by fluid threat dynamics, technological evolution, and heightened demands on operational sustainability,” he said.
“History has consistently demonstrated that operational success is sustained not only by tactical brilliance and combat power but also by the reliability, responsiveness and resilience of the logistics system that supports the force.”
The CCST further explained that the conference would enable participants to critically assess ongoing operations, address institutional challenges, and develop innovative strategies to enhance the Corps’ overall efficiency.
“Through this platform, we will collectively review our operational commitments, examine institutional challenges and explore innovative approaches aimed at strengthening sustainment initiatives and enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our logistics support system,” Shagaya added.
In his welcome address, the Commandant of NASST, Major General Adebayo Olatunde Adegbite, highlighted the importance of the conference in aligning field operations with the Nigerian Army’s broader mission and command philosophy.
“The conference provides a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, discuss challenges and make meaningful contributions that will propel the Corps towards improved efficiency and excellent service delivery,” he stated.
The event also features key activities including the commissioning of a Soldiers’ Dining Hall, unveiling of the remodeled NASST Driving Simulation Centre, and the inauguration of Col I. Taiwo Crescent. It will conclude with a Pulling-Out Ceremony and Gala Night in honour of retired generals of the Corps on March 26, 2026.
The conference underscores the Nigerian Army’s renewed focus on strengthening logistics as a backbone for operational success in addressing the nation’s complex security challenges.
