The Nollywood industry has been thrown into mourning once again as popular actor, Ibrahim Chatta, announced the heartbreaking death of his son.
The 54-year-old actor shared the devastating news with fans on his Instagram page on Saturday, though he did not disclose details surrounding the boy’s passing. Posting a photo of his late son, Chatta wrote:
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son, champ.”
The announcement has drawn an outpouring of condolences from colleagues and fans across the entertainment industry, with many praying for strength and comfort for the grieving actor.
The tragedy comes just days after veteran actress, Peju Ogunmola, lost her only son, Ayomikun, in Ibadan. Ayomikun, who was in his early 30s, died earlier in the week, compounding the sorrow within the Nollywood community. The back-to-back losses have left colleagues and admirers in deep shock, describing the developments as a double tragedy for the film industry.

This is not the first time Ibrahim Chatta has experienced such personal heartbreak. In June, the actor recounted the painful story of losing his first child, a daughter, many years ago. He revealed that her death was linked to financial hardship and lack of access to adequate medical care. Struggling to afford a coffin at the time, he said he buried his daughter in an old wooden Coca-Cola crate — a memory that still haunts him.
With this new loss, fans and colleagues are rallying around the actor, offering prayers and words of encouragement as he navigates another devastating chapter in his life.
