Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced that the state will receive technical and policy support from the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) for its urban regeneration and new city development initiatives.
Makinde disclosed this after meeting earlier today in Nairobi, Kenya, with UN-Habitat Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director, Anacláudia Marinheiro Centeno Rossbach, and her team.

The discussions, he said, centred on potential areas of collaboration following the recent establishment of the Oyo State New Towns and Cities Development Authority (NTCDA).
“I am happy to report that Oyo State will be getting support from UN-Habitat in the areas of urban regeneration and new city initiative, bridging this with our agribusiness development initiatives,” Makinde stated. He explained that the agency will also assist in policy formulation on sustainable urbanisation.

The governor noted that the collaboration aims to align Oyo State’s development agenda with global best practices in city planning, sustainable growth, and economic integration.
