The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has approved another extension of the grace period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement, shifting the start date to October 2, 2025.
According to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the move was prompted by a surge in applications through its official portal, indicating growing public compliance. The Force said the extra time would ensure “meticulous scrutiny of applications” so that permits are issued only to “eligible and qualified individuals,” in line with national security considerations.
The NPF also stated that the extension would allow for further refinement of both digital and physical verification processes to safeguard the integrity of the permit system and prevent abuse. Citizens are reminded to apply only through the authorized platform, https://possap.gov.ng, and to ignore unofficial channels.
The Force urged the public to report any incidents of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorized processing to the police, including via its dedicated hotline: 08147818871.
Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reaffirmed the Police commitment to “balancing public convenience with robust security measures for the safety of all.”
