Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has apologized to Lagos-based lawyer, Festus Ogun, after blocking him on Twitter (now X) in 2020.
The governor extended an invitation to Ogun and hosted him at the Lagos House, Marina, on Friday — two weeks after the lawyer filed a lawsuit challenging the governor’s decision to block him on the social media platform.
Ogun had accused Sanwo-Olu of violating his fundamental human rights after he was blocked for criticizing the governor over the October 2020 Lekki Toll Gate shootings during the EndSARS protests.
Confirming the development on his X account, Ogun wrote: “Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has unblocked me on X (Twitter). I met briefly with him yesterday at Lagos House Marina, on his invitation, to amicably resolve my complaint of human rights violations. We will continue to hold authorities accountable, regardless. Aluta continua!”
