Nigeria’s Super Falcons have advanced to the third round of the CAF Women’s Olympic qualifying series after defeating Comoros 5-0 in the second leg at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

The victory gave Nigeria a 7-0 aggregate win after the team had secured a 2-0 advantage in the first leg.

Toni Payne and Uchenna Kanu scored twice each, while Christy Ucheibe converted a penalty to complete the victory, according to Punch Sports Extra.

However, the result was overshadowed by an injury to Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who was forced off during the match following a collision.

The injury has raised concerns ahead of Nigeria’s next qualifying fixture against Morocco.

The Falcons’ interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen, said the team was determined to move beyond its disappointment at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and focus on Olympic qualification.

“We collectively agreed that we put the WAFCON disappointment behind us and set our eyes on the gold medal in the Olympics,” Eguavoen said.

The coach added that Nigeria expected tougher opposition in the next round but expressed confidence in the team’s quality and experience.

Nigeria must now prepare for Morocco as the Falcons continue their pursuit of a place at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
