The media aide to Fuji music legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has debunked reports alleging that the artiste disrupted a ValueJet flight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, 2025.
In an official statement issued by his spokesperson, Kunle Rasheed, the claims that K1 behaved in an unruly manner or obstructed flight operations were described as “exaggerated” and “misleading.”
“Our attention has been drawn to reports alleging that King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate) displayed unruly conduct while attempting to board a ValueJet flight on August 5, 2025, allegedly causing a breach of aviation protocol,” the statement began.
“We wish to categorically state that this narrative is not only exaggerated but also misleading,” Rasheed continued, clarifying that the supposed “substance” K1 was accused of carrying onboard was merely plain drinking water handed to him while waiting at the airport lounge.
According to Rasheed, the veteran artiste respectfully attempted to clarify the situation, but it was needlessly escalated by ValueJet staff. He stressed that K1 neither blocked the aircraft nor engaged in any act that could endanger safety or disrupt airport operations.
He further emphasized that K1 is a seasoned traveler with strict adherence to aviation protocols, both locally and internationally. “If indeed there had been anything inappropriate in his conduct, the Head of Airport Security, officials from relevant agencies such as FAAN and NCAA, as well as the Chairman and Managing Director of the airline, would not have reached out personally to appeal, tender apologies, and even go as far as arranging a private jet to fly him to Lagos — at no cost,” Rasheed revealed.
Despite the high-level intervention and what was described as “persistent persuasion” from ValueJet’s top executives, K1 declined the offer of a private jet and chose not to escalate the matter further.
Rasheed insisted that K1 was, in fact, the victim in the entire episode, noting that only the artiste and his personal assistant were directly involved. He added that several passengers who witnessed the incident firsthand intervened, urging K1 to remain calm as they acknowledged the undue pressure he was facing.
The statement also touched on disciplinary actions already taken, stating that the pilot involved in the incident has had her license suspended. “Given the circumstances, it is no surprise if she attempts to deflect blame — surely, she must lie to cover herself up,” Rasheed claimed.
In closing, the aide urged members of the public and the media to avoid sensationalizing the incident and allow facts — not assumptions — to shape public opinion. “K1 remains a law-abiding citizen and continues to cooperate fully with all relevant authorities to ensure that the matter is responsibly resolved,” he stated.
The statement was signed by Kunle Rasheed and dated August 6, 2025.
