The monthly environmental sanitation exercise was strictly enforced across the Ibeshe area of Ikorodu on Saturday, with government officials and members of the local Joint Task Force (JTF) ensuring full compliance with the movement restriction order.
During the exercise, pedestrians and motorists were prevented from moving around, particularly at Abuja Bus Stop, a major transit point along Ibeshe Road, as officials monitored compliance with sanitation regulations.

Leading the monitoring and supervision exercise were Hon. Bello Yusuf Olalekan, Councillor representing Ward C4, and Hon. Sheu Aganga Adewale, Supervisor for Special Duties.
Other government officials present included Hon. Samuel Olatunde, Supervisor for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs, and Hon. Oni Ezekiel, Supervisor for Monitoring and Projects.
The local Joint Task Force deployed for the operation was led by Mr. Akeem Raman, Commander of the Ibeshe Unit, alongside Mr. Iroko Oluwatoyin, Commander of the Benson Owode Unit.
Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Bello Yusuf Olalekan said environmental sanitation remains essential to maintaining a clean and healthy community.
According to him, “Regular sanitation exercises help to prevent environmental hazards, promote public health, and create a safer and more hygienic environment for residents.”

The councillor further urged residents to embrace cleanliness as a collective responsibility, noting that “community participation in environmental sanitation is crucial to sustaining a healthy environment and preventing disease outbreaks.”

Observers described the exercise as successful and commendable, as the monitoring teams maintained a firm stance throughout the operation and resisted all forms of influence while ensuring strict compliance with movement restrictions.
