Public outrage has erupted following the circulation of a disturbing viral video allegedly showing a bound suspect being executed by men said to be police officers in Delta State.
The 90-second footage, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user #Dee_9889, captures a scene of extreme violence involving armed men in civilian clothing operating beside a vehicle marked “Nigeria Police Force, Effurun Area Command.”
In the video, the victim is seen lying on the ground with his hands and legs tied, pleading for his life while addressing the armed men as “officers.” He reportedly offered to cooperate and provide information.
“Officers, abeg… I’ll tell you everything. It was my friend who deceived me,” the man is heard saying.
As the victim mentioned a location in Sapele, one of the armed men allegedly shot him in the leg. Despite his continued pleas and cries for mercy, a second shot was reportedly fired at close range toward his head, in full view of bystanders.
The body was then carried into a waiting police van by two other men before they drove away from the scene.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation across social media, with many Nigerians calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those involved.
Reacting to the development, activist Harrison Gwamnishu described the footage as “disturbing,” alleging that it depicts a live execution carried out by individuals believed to be attached to the Effurun Area Command of the Nigeria Police.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force has not issued an official statement regarding the incident or the authenticity of the video.
